Sagamok Fall Classic Walleye Tournament winners Dave Lepage and Guy Dubosq.

The final event of the year in Sagamok hosted a battle on 2 fronts – first prize for the final NOWT tournament of 2015, AND the trophy for the 2015 NOWT Angler of the Year award.

The Spanish River holds large walleyes and conditions that differ a from other events – normally there is noticeable current with some sections having a bit more.  This year the current was much lower than normal, putting competing anglers on notice with this change.

Although the conditions were equal for all, some anglers fared better than others!  On Day 1 it was the team of Neil Austin and Mark Tessier of Espanola leading the pack with just over 15 pounds of walleye.  Hot on their tails with only a difference of 0.30 pounds was the team of Jody Villeneuve and Chad Vis.

Day 2 of the tournament proved to be a challenge for the Villeneuve/Vis.  Their 0.95 lb weigh in  dropped them from second place down to the bottom of the pack for the day. Overall they still managed a respectable 13th place finish.

Austin/Tessier worked to maintain their first place position with their second day bag weighing 8.60 pounds – worth 12th place for the day.

The big surprise was the hefty 16.68 pound bag of walleyes weighed in by Dave Lepage and Guy Dubosq of Kapuskasing.  Combined with their day 1 weight of 10.60 pounds the team jumped from 9th place to the top weight for day 2, and over all!

Congratulations to Lepage/Dubosq on their win at the 2015 Sagamok Fall Classic Walleye Tournament!
