After 4 tournaments, Hein & Germain lead the way for Angler of the Year narrowly over Robinson and Bernath.    Hein & Germain remain consistent but haven’t dominated as in the past.  The 2011 AIM International Walleye Championship spots  are now being calculated using the best 3 finishes from 2010 Kapuskasing, 2010 Timmins, 2010 Sagamok, 2011 Mattagami, 2011 Dubreuilville, 2011 Geraldton and 2011 Sault Ste Marie.  The anglers qualifying will be contacted shortly.    That tournament takes place on September 15th – 17th on Lake Oahe in South Dakota.  If they choose not to go this year then the NOWT board will decide on whether to ask other anglers if they are interested in participating.  Keep in the mind the total cost to fish one of these events will cost approximately $3500-$4500(entry fees, Motel, gas, food, bait, etc).

With 3 events remaining on the schedule for 2011 it is still wide open.   The 2011 Angler of the Year is calculated using the best 3 finishes from all tournaments in 2011.  Many anglers still haven’t fished 3 events yet so things should get interesting.  Next on the schedule is Kapuskasing River Walleye Tournament on August 6th & 7th followed by Cache Campground(Timmins) on September 10th & 11th and the final showdown on the Spanish River(Sagamok First Nations Walleye Classic) September 24th & 25th.  These tournaments are filling fast so register now.
