Executive Assistant and Board Liaison Consultant

JOB DESCRIPTION 

This contract position provides leadership, organization, administrative and project management support to the NOWT’s Board, while contributing to NOWT’s communication activities. The successful candidate will have strong multi-tasking and communication skills, solves problems before they arise, and is able to meet deadlines with frequent interruptions and/or little supervision.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist and support the Board by drafting agendas, minutes and templates
  • Coordinate and make arrangements for Board and Committee meetings
  • Draft memos, reports, newsletters and other communications, and assist in disseminating as required
  • Update and assist with content for NOWT’s website and social media channels as required
  • Maintain and update contact lists for members, sponsors and stakeholders
  • Direct incoming communications to appropriate Board representatives as required
  • Maintain consistent communications with membership, sponsors and stakeholders
  • Work professionally, collaboratively and respectfully with all colleagues and stakeholders to move NOWT’s work forward
  • Other tasks as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education, Knowledge and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in communications, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent in education/experience
  • Extensive administrative experience with preference given to candidates with event management experience
  • Knowledge of, or experience in, non-profit organizations, Board support and meeting minutes an asset
  • Extensive computer experience including database management
  • Skills, Abilities and Competencies
  • Highly professional and strong interpersonal skills, including maturity, diplomacy, and ability to create positive and professional relationships with all stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and leadership, working independently as well as be a strong team player
  • Planning and organizational skills
  • Access to all necessary technology including hardware and software
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Positive, energetic, solutions-oriented attitude

 

Renumeration and Expectations

$30/hour flat rate

Approximately 6-8 hours monthly Jan-April & Oct-Dec; 10-12 hours monthly May-Aug
